My Big Guy

My big guy is probably the coolest thing ever. On a daily basis, he says something that has to be the funniest thing you've heard all day. He has wit, charm, and a heart as big as the world. Geez...he's like a freaking person!! Overnight he seems to have shot of height wise and leaned out and just surprises you with how big he is. His personality and laughter is infectious.

He just finished up TOTS, his basketball class at school, and had a celebration performance which was fun. This picture was probably as focused as he was the whole time. Lots of people, lots of friends and lots of space to play!!

He was proud of his China jammies that Daddy brought back for him. He also missed his Daddy and admires him. I love knowing that Matthew is modeling his life after David, because I think he's a pretty good example. They have an identical sense of humor of a graceful mix of charm, sarcasm, and pure joy.

He just finished up soccer and really caught hold of it and was enjoying it. We will definately do it again next season and we are anxiously awaiting T-ball now. It's so fun to be at an age of seeing him do things and participate in organized things.

I love when we get to go on dates, just the two of us. Those are the times when both of us are present and focused. We truly feel like we are a part of each other's worlds and its as if the rest of the world just disappears. I love getting a glimpse of his heart and his world as well and hearing what he thinks about and how he feels or who is important to him. He really is a wonderful conversationalist and one I will always go out with.

Being a big brother has brought out another level of this kid that I never could have imagined. People always say it's tough to transition the older one and they will be jealous and what not.  I know it sounds braggy, but it is what it is, Matthew has been nothing but head over heels in love with his brother. And Taylor already seems to look to Matthew and want to spend time with him. Their interactions are classic and I'm sure will only get better and better. I'm already a little scared of what they'll get into when Taylor is able to maneuver around.

Matthew, you are a born leader. God has big plans for you and I'm completely confident you will rise to those plans and embrace whatever role you have in life. You have a joy that is refreshing and I pray that you will not allow the world to rob you of that joy...they don't deserve it, you deserve to be at peace. I look forward to each day with you and where you will jump out and scare me from at 6:15 in the morning. You are able to dictate your needs and wants well and pray that you find comfort in someone WAY IN THE FUTURE that you can committ your life to and continue to make your needs known to them and strive to meet their needs as well. You are strong and focused, that will take you far, but don't forget to enjoy the journey and pause to count your blessings and laugh. Always remember and may you come to find this a faithful statement that you have a safe place to land at home. You're dad and I pray that each day for you and your brother and pray you find comfort and love in just being you.
