We've passed two weeks!! On Tuesday, Matthew was 2 weeks old. (I have to blame Grande for my lack of postings since our Internet has not been working for the last few days). Time feels like it has flown by but every minute is wonderful and a blessing with our little guy.
On Tuesday, Matthew went to his doctor appointment and did well (except for peeing and pooping on the doctors table when we were changing him while waiting for the doctor). He has gained back his birth weight, plus some, and weighs 8lbs. 1oz. as of Tuesday. Our doctor was again very encouraging and all his measurements (height, weight and head size) were all in the 25th percentile. I don't really understand all those percentile things, but the doctor said it was good...so yipee!!
It was quite a chore getting out the door on Tuesday, I think Matthew didn't want to go to the doctor. We went through 3 outfits in 2 hours thanks to 3 leaky diapers. And mom just couldn't get everything together in a timely manner but we made it there with a few minutes to spare. I have a feeling I'm going to have to start being okay with being a little later to things. We will have another appointment at his 2 month birthday.
On Wednesday, I had my appointment with my OB/GYN and got an excellent report. When she first walked in she stated "Yea, you've got cheekbones," referring to the loss of swelling I've had over the past few weeks. She was excited about Matthew and was still amazed that he took the 18 hours that she predicted. Our little man follows instructions well I guess. I will see her again in about 4 weeks.
I took some time for me and went and got my haircut and ran a few errands while Gran and Grandaddy watched Matthew. I think they really enjoyed getting to be with him and I did enjoy getting out and taking care of me. Matthew likes getting out and seeing the world. My mom and me took him looking for a rocker the other day and he just slept in his carrier the whole time.
The main "dilemma" going on now is the breastfeeding thing. I am breastfeeding and plan to continue to do so but we're trying to mix in a few bottles in order to have a little more freedom. It would be nice if someone just told you "x+y=z" for the feeding stuff, but then it wouldn't be any fun figuring it out. So, right now David is feeding Matthew at 10pm so I can get a little more sleep and the other times I feed him. It is pretty cool how everything works out with your body to supply for his needs.
Everyday is getting better and I feel like we are starting to get a grip on things again. David has a deadline this week at work so he has been worked overtime, which I know is hard for him. We've been blessed with our church friends bringing over meals which has given us more time with Matthew and together. Thank you for those who are involved in that.
Well, he is crying so I must go tend to my little man. Here are some pics to enjoy. David thinks Matthew makes the Gerber baby look like a chump...I think I agree!
