SURPRISE!!

No, Matthew has not surprised us yet, but we're hoping and getting close.

The Surprise is related to the Surprise anniversary party we threw for my parents this weekend. My brother and sister in law came in to town on Thursday and stayed through Sunday. We've been planning this party for a while and my parents had no idea. Their anniversary is actually on August 5th but they were unable to come at that time so we postponed it until this weekend. We told them we wanted to take them out to dinner to celebrate all together.

All throughout the weekend, us 4 kids have been going on escapades to get things and lying about where we were going, etc. But we were able to pull it off without giving anything away. We took them to dinner at the Elite while people were coming over to our house for a dessert party. We got to our house about 745 and they were totally surprised by about 25 of their friends and family. They had a good time and we made them a DVD movie of pictures throughout their life. Of course, its always hard to plan when you have the mother of all planners as your mom but we got past her schedule and pulled one past both of them.

We are more than proud of our parents for being HAPPILY married for 40 years, many people can't say that these days. It was our privelage to take some time and let them have the spotlight and share in their life. They have been an example of genuine love, patience, fun, forgiveness, support, and many other things. My brother and me have a great example of marriage to include in our own marriages. David and I look forward to being that kind of example for Matthew and teaching him about family, which begins with mom and dad.

It was a great weekend filled with many laughs and a few tears when my brother and sister in law left. Thanks for coming Tim and Sam and for all your support with Matthew and me. We look forward to our "Bob" and for you meeting our little one.

Doctors appointment on Thursday...more to come then.
