We went to the doctor yesterday and had a good visit. She said everything was on schedule and she didn't have any concerns. She was very encouraging and supportive of everything. Some highlights from the visit:
- She started doing pelvic exams this week (which will be done from here on out). She said I was about 1 cm dialated but my cervix had not thinned much. (1 cm down, 9 to go...the power of positive thinking)
- She is fairly certain that Matthew is head down but was unable to touch his head to make sure. She said she likes to "tap his head" to make sure. David and I got a good mental image of that and Matthew trying to figure out what was going on. If she doesn't feel his head next time, she'll do an ultrasound to verify that he is head down. She is certain he will be.
- She encouraged me to limit my contact to sick people but said it would be good for me to work as long as possible. Time would go by so slow if I didn't have work, so I'm grateful for that, but excited about being home when Matthew gets here. My last day of work will be October 28 unless he comes earlier.
- Our next appointments are set up and are as follows:
October 8- 3:00
October 12- 2:45
October 20- 1:30 (this one will be with Dr. Dunn because our doctor is out of the office that week)
October 29- 10:00 (Yep, that's our due date)
We're officially in the month now that we'll have Matthew. Our doctor says babies tend to come the week before or the week of their due date, so we'll see when he decides he's ready. Getting exciting!!!! My brother and sister in law are coming in town today so it will be fun to see how they react to their pregnant sister, since we haven't seen them since we found out. We also have 2 more showers coming up, one for David's work and one for mine. We're so grateful to those who have put these together.
Glad we had a good report, pray that each one is the same, and that we continue to make progress. October 29th...here we come!!!
