Chstimas Eve

Christmas was SO. MUCH. FUN. this year with Matthew. Just seeing the festivities, lights, experiences through a child's eyes is very genuine. Matthew was a delight and really seemed to enjoy all the things we did. Which brings me to Christmas Eve where we hung out with my family as my brother and sister in law were in town from LA. We had a great time together and I think they are a little smitten with Matthew.

We started off our day making cookies and Matthew had to get in on that action. I'm not sure if he enjoyed it but he sure enjoyed eating the dough (but honestly, who doesn't?!?!)

Uncle Tim got in on the action as well

That evening we went to the Christmas Eve service at my parents church. Matthew wasn't haven't it so we pulled out every trick to entertain...Pencils, candles, books, paper, keys, fingers, watches, poking Daddy and PawPaw in the nose. He eventually got too restless and him and David got to go run around outside and the foyer.

That service was special as I took a moment to reflect on why we even have Christmas to begin with. It was a sweet, quiet time to rest in the hope and assurance we have because of the gift of life and love given to me.

That evening we got everything out for the next day. And then....we wait for Santa!!!
