A Father's Love

I was looking through pictures of Matthew and was just struck by the following picture...

"...to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:18-19

This verse immediately came to mind as I stared at this picture, tears coming down, and I realized how much David loves Matthew. But more than that how much our Heavenly Father loves us and will cradle us just like this picture when we are in need of His love.



I am confident that Matthew will know the love of his father as David continuously shows his devotion and love to him. As he gets older I can already see them working together on machines, fishing, playing football in the street and many other "boy things". I see how David misses him when he's working and lights up when he sees him. He always has a spot for his boy in his arms and would drop anything to be there for his little man.


How much more does our God love us? I know there is no limit to David's love for Matthew and God has measures more love to bestow on us. He wants to enjoy life with us and know about our activities at the end of the day. He wants to hold us when we're crying and hurting. He lights up when we come back to Him after being gone for a while. He will meet us whenever we need Him and stay with us however long it takes. He kisses us goodnight when we're already asleep and watches over us until morning. He ALWAYS has a place for us in His arms and there we will find rest and peace.


I'm overwhelmed beyond explanation to know that my son will know that love and I pray that through the love of his earthly father that he will come to know the love from his Heavenly Father.

What a great post! I totally understand and can relate to it! I think as a parent it's SOOOO much easier to grasp and understand our Heavenly Father's love for us! Sure you read your Bible and "know" it but until you are a parent - I don't know if it's possible to understand that unconditional and completely amazing love!
