Friday night was a big night as it was our first night to have Matthew spend the night somewhere. He spent it with his favorite Gran and Pops and from the report it sounded like a success and grandparents are still standing and excited about him!! We dropped him off at their house and David and I enjoyed a night on the town beginning with his company Christmas party.
The party was really great. It is always at Ridgewood and there was great attendance there. There was an open bar, which David and I took advantage of and the entertainment was a dance and DJ. Now, when I realized that I wasn't sure how fun that was going to be...I mean, really, CPAs and dancing don't really mix. However, it went great!! It seemed like everyone really had a good time. I personally loved being swung around the floor by David and being in his arms and know that at that moment I was the only thing he was focused on. It is always fun when we dance and I just curl up on him while he twirls away.
After the party, we went with some friend to Austins and had some drinks. It was fun hanging out with our good friends and enjoying laughs. Oh, I forgot to mention that I did call ONE TIME to check in after the party and mom said that everyone was sleeping and they were doing good. David and I got in late and slept till about 9:30am and then just lounged around for a little while longer. That was nice, but I'm sure we could have slept for days.
THANK YOU Gran and Pops for your willingness to take our little one. I can tell that you love him with all you have and its great knowing you are involved and excited about him. He loves ya'll too and will look forward to the next time. By the way, it is incredible, as a Daddy's Little Girl, to see my daddy love on Matthew...he's already got a tighter grip on his Pops little finger than I did.
Saturday, we got Matthew dressed up to see Santa....well, so did the rest of Waco and so we didn't wait in line and we'll do it later this week when David is off. We did some Christmas shopping at the mall and were very tired when we got home as there were tons of people there. We then had our monthly Supper Club and had a great time with the Kolars, Huses, and Paynes. It was fun to see Michelle's girls and get to help her a little.
(Kolars--I hope you enjoy the ornaments you bought for yourselves....ha!!!!)
Sunday we went to church and did well through church and Sunday School. We all got a good nap in, which could have been longer. I took Matthew to his first birthday party this afternoon for my dear friend Marci's little girl Karlie. She looked so cute and all the kids were having a blast. It will be fun when Matthew can run around and play at things like that.
I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always
As long as I'm living
My baby you'll be.
As I read that tears just streamed down my face thinking of how much I love this little guy and how I just want to be apart of his life and help him reach the potential that God has for him. Wow, those four lines say it all for how I feel about my son and I didn't know I had all that love for him but as I read these lines to him...a smile came on his face as he slowly drifted off to sleep.
Matthew, I'll love you forever. I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living my baby you'll be. Goodnight son.
