San Antonio Trip

Our summer vacation of a family of 3 1/2 this year was to San Antonio. We were thinking about taking Matthew to Sea World and came across a great deal for Baylor Alumni. They were having Diadeloso at Sea World and this allowed us to get tickets, lunch and some goodies for a great price. We thought about going down for just the day but decided to make a weekend out of it, which was much needed for this family. (Warning: Picture overload).

We left Friday afternoon around 1 in order to allow Matthew to take his nap in the car on the way down. We hung out in Gruene for a while as we waited for our friends, the Jacobus', to meet up with us as they allowed us to spend the night at their friends house. We played a little in the river, ate some ice cream, ate some dinner and then got to go swimming.

We were up and ready to head to Sea World that Saturday morning. Matthew was super excited and was ready to get to Shamu. Once we arrived we were greeted by Baylor folks and Matthew got his Baylor tattoo for the day. And then we were off to explore.....

Excited on the way...had to color to distract ourselves

Tickets and his little Baylor bear he got

Our first stop was the dolphins. We went back later in the day to try and feed them and they ran out of food with 4 people in front of me...bummer

Waiting in line with Daddy for our FIRST roller coaster ride

They are in the 4th car from the front...a proud Daddy moment

Having a blast on the carousel

One of the shows we went to was the Shamu show...complete with popcorn

He was definately the hit as we've been talking him up for weeks!!!

The Elmo Concert was also a HUGE hit and he was completely mesmerized by it all

We also did the 4D movie, which was about pirates. Matthew wasn't too sure when the bees kept flying at him, but I think we all enjoyed the cool theater

We got there at 10am and left about 6pm to head back to our hotel. Matthew was a great tropper and really did well in the heat and no nap. I will also mention that we did Sea World without any pottying accidents. Luckily having all the shows to stop at gave him (and the pregnant lady) a time to rest for a bit. David was also a champ by carrying him around when he got tired.

Is is obvious he's exhausted???

These two are such a team.

Jackpot with the Shamu stuffed animal....he is still sleeping with him at night

Our family of 3.75--Sea World 2012
After dinner, we were able to all relax in the hotel room and watch Shrek. It was nice just being together, no agenda, no chores, just undivided attention between all of us.

That morning we were leisurely and all ate breakfast in bed.

Then we took off to the San Antonio Zoo on our way out of town. The big hit was the train ride!!!  We did that first before we got inside the zoo. Matthew wanted to sit right in front, right behind the engine. Due to him being a train fanatic, he kept saying "All Aboard"! The conducter heard him saying this to us and so at each stop the train made, he let Matthew say "All Aboard" into the speaker for the trip to begin again.

There were lots of animals to see and Matthew is always in 7th heaven when he is around animals.

Riding the Lizard

Feeding the fish

Hippo!!

This was a weird animal...The head of a giraffe, body of a horse, and legs of a zebra...and they say it's full bred?!?!

Elephants are always a hit

Exploring the bugs in the caves

We left around lunch time and had a picnic right outside the zoo before we headed back for Waco.

Matthew slept the ENTIRE time back home and David and I enjoyed our little time of quality time together as well. This trip was really perfect timing and alot of fun. It is always nice to see your kids excited as well as experience things with them. This was one of those trips that was exactly what we wanted it to be which was bonding, relaxing and fun before we became a family of four.
