We celebrated Easter on Saturday and had a really fun time. Of course, we celebrated our risen Lord Sunday but got all the Easter fun and candy done on Saturday. Every Saturday wouldn't be complete without a good game of hide-and-seek.
We went over to my parents house that morning to do our Easter egg hunt so they could be apart of it. Later that day all of my extended family came over and we had lots of food, family and fun.
Here are some of the eggs hidden.
Can you find them???
Matthew really took on to the Easter egg hunt more than I thought he would. He picked them up, put them in his basket and then took off to find more of them. He was really cute and appeared to have a great time.
Some of the eggs were mini footballs, so he was really excited about those.
Putting each egg into the basket...the kid is meticulous. Daddy got to help him find some as well...and luckily I remembered where I put them all so we didn't have any random finds later.
The Full Basket
I put some of his favorite snack foods in his eggs this year, rather than a bunch of candy. Of course there was a fair share of candy given out to him...how else am I supposed to get candy from a baby?!?!?
After our hunt, we went cruising in the driveway on our bike in order to work up an appetite for lunch.
Alot of the family went swimming and Matthew to hang with Papa and get his feet wet.
Then we couldn't resist anymore and had the first swim of the year. There were alot of other "big" kids swimming and Matthew was just dying to get in. However, when he got in I asked him what he thought and he shrugged and said "Brrr".
Sunday morning (no pics from that day) our tradition is to go to a sunrise service and then to IHOP before our church service. We had a great time of worship at the sunrise service and then fun family time at IHOP. We took Matthew to church with us because I like for us to be together on big holidays. He did REALLY well and enjoyed seeing all the people and all the music. He had to leave when the sermon started, not because he was being bad, but just because he was talking ALOT. He hasn't quite learned about inside vs. outside voices. It was a sweet time of family the rest of the day and more swimming after his nap with Papa and Gaga.
I pray that Matthew comes to realize the powerful meaning of Easter and how it can and will change his life. He asks to read his Bible every night and points to Jesus and says His name. Gives us great joy knowing that he is being raised in a home where that is important but that we realize we're not perfect and our home is a place of grace, forgiveness, and fun.
Because He lives!!
