Birthday Party- October 30, 2010

On Saturday, October 30th, we had Matthew first birthday party. Because it was so close to Halloween we had a Halloween themed party. Thankfully my parents allowed for us to invade their home, which was great since so many little kiddos and their parents were running around.

Before the party, Matthew was anxiously awaiting everyone's arrival outside

Happy Birthday...come on in!!

Mom and me got all our creativity out this year for this party. Below are the treats that we put together for the party.

The layout of everything along the bar

"Balls of Goo"  (Cake Balls)

"Ghost Eyeballs" (Peanut Butter and Chocolate)

"Gholishly Good Cookies" (Nutter Butters covered in White Chocolate)

"Mummy Fingers" (Little Smokies)

"Cup Of Dirt" (Dirt Pudding...did this instead of cake for everyone)

After we spent time visiting and playing with everyone we pulled out Matthew smash cake. I made it (not my best talent) and made a little pumpkin. It seemed like he didn't quite know what to do with it but once we got it into smaller pieces, he was all about it.

Not real sure about what this is I'm touching

I'm just waiting for the green light to dig in

Oh...I like cake

Shoveling it in

Happy Birthday to Me

Several of our friends, and their kiddos, came out to celebrate. It was good to have so many of them there since they have been so supportive throughout this first year with Matthew and us.

Playing with the toys...Seems like Matthew was always surrounded by the girls

I got to hang out with Ms. Karlie and play the piano. Cutest girl.

We then began to open presents. Matthew didn't last too long with it but say with his daddy and tore the paper. We were overwhelmed by everyone's generosity and appreciate all the gifts that will last Matthew through his next year.

Come on mom, let's rip this open

I'll just tear this paper...sugar coma has begun at this point

Opening presents...and I had a great helper, Andrew Davlin

What a great time to have a special time to center on Matthew and celebrate what he has become so far in life. Parties and celebrations have always been a HUGE deal in my family and we'll look to make sure Mattew knows he has a special day each year on his birthday.

Happy Birthday Matthew. This past year was fun and new and we look forward to many more.
