Being Matthew's Mommy

This was my first Mother's Day this year and I couldn't have been more proud to participate in this holiday. Mother's Day and Father's Day, growing up in the Graves' household, have been referred to as Hallmark holidays. Well, call it what you may, I really enjoyed the significance of the day. How could you not when you have this guy as a son?!?!?

I'll look handsome because its Mother's Day

Ah man, she found my tickle spot

On Saturday, I was able to go and get my hair cut and get a pedicure while Matthew and Daddy played at home. It was nice to be out and doing something for me. I actually found myself getting excited about my haircut several days before (you know you need a break when you are getting excited about that).

We spent the afternoon with Gran and Pops helping them in the yard and providing many smiles and giggle moments. Happy Mother's Day mom. You have made me who I am today and have provided a true and genuine example of what selfless love is. I'm glad that David, Matthew and me are at the receiving end of that special kind of love only a mom, mom-in-law, Gran could give.

On Saturday night, I told David that the only thing I wanted for Mother's Day was to be on time to church because I wanted to be able to stand with all the other mothers when they are recognized during the service. We made it!!  Such a little thing, but I found myself standing probably three inches taller as I proudly stood as a mother. And not only a mother, but Matthew's mom...that brought tears to my eyes. The role of mother is one that I am proud to put on my resume.
Being David's wife and Matthew's mom are truly the most important roles and the ones that give me purpose and meaning in my life now and forevermore.

Matthew gave me a Mothers Day picture frame that he ACTUALLY signed. David let him hold the pen on the envelope and he drew on it...it now adorns my refrigerator, right in front!

We took David's mom out to lunch after church with the rest of the McKown family and enjoyed family time at Ninfas. It was good to show appreciation for David's mom as well.

After an hour and a half nap...that's right...I joined my boys and we enjoyed cuddling, playing and laughing the rest of the day. I loved every minute of it and just felt honored and cherished.
