4 Month Update

We took Matthew today for his 4 month old checkup. Overall he is doing great. His appointment was at 9 so it was right as he was falling asleep for a nap when we had to pack up, he wasn't excited about that. He was a little cranky throughout the visit but once we gave him his bottle, about half way through visit, he was an angel as always. He got his second round of shots and he's not doing quite as well as he did last time. He did get a fever so we gave him his first Tylenol. He has been wanting to be held all day, uncommon, but that was nice for me. He has been sleeping alot today because he didn't feel well...he'll be fine tomorrow I'm sure. I tried to get him to play, this is what happened.

Here the scoop on all the updates with our little guy:

Weighs: 15lbs 9oz, 50 percentile
Height: 26 inches, 75 percentile

  • Is continuing to do good on breastmilk, thanks to the elimination diet I've been on. I have added back eggs and have had good results. He wanted me to add in nuts now.
    • He did say that I would have to get rid of my frozen milk because of us not knowing if it has allergens in it. It was tough to see this much milk/work go down the drain. Oh well, we'll make more...ha!

  • We've been given the green light for starting food with him, which is exciting. We'll do cereal for 2 weeks and then start on fruits and veggies. He said at 6 months he'll talk to us about starting on meats. Exciting!
    • I plan on doing rice cereal for the first time on Saturday so David can be involved in it...he gets home during the week after Matthew is in bed
  • Matthew does have skin rash and we've got to put some good lotion on him several times a day and it should go away in a few days.
  • As posted previously, he has been sleeping from 7:30pm-6:30am consistently for 3 days now. That's a blessing.
  • The doctor was very pleased with Matthew's progress and was encouraging of David and me. That's good to know the "expert" thought we were doing things well.
  • He's been continuing to roll over and is working hard at rolling from back to front.
  • Our next thing to work on is sitting up on his own.
Matthew is a joy and is always laughing and smiling. He is very laid back and cool. I can already tell he's going to be a loveable kid. It is good to know he is in good health and we'll look forward to seeing him continue to do well and grow big and strong.

You're the best Matthew...Mommy loves you dearly.
