Meeting the Fam

Last weekend Matthew got a chance to meet his Uncle Tim and Aunt Sam. They had not met him yet and they came from Friday to Monday and hung out with him the whole time. The last time they came I was about 8 1/2 months pregnant...so things had changed. I surprised them at the airport with him as they thought my parents were picking them up. They were immediately smitten by him. Matthew got so excited to finally meet his Aunt Sam he spit up on her in the parking lot.

On Saturday we had to go to a birthday party and they babysat Matthew while we were gone. They had a good time and Matthew is mesmerized by Tim. It was a joy to get to show off my boy to my brother and sister in law. They mean so much to me and I wanted them to meet him and know him. We've been talking via webcam but it just doesn't do it justice. They will be coming back in the summer and it will be neat to see how much he has changed.

On Sunday we had Matthew's baby dedication at church. It was a nice time to put our lives in God's hands in order to raise Matthew in a godly home. They gave us a  certificate and Bible for him. The verses we chose for him are the same verses that we used in our wedding and that are engraved on our rings.
Ecclesiastes 3:11,14
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.

My aunt from Austin came to the service which was really nice to have her there. Thanks Aunt Susan for waking up early and celebrating with us. You have been a great source of support. We went back to Mom and Dads and had a brunch with all the family. My Aunt Mary and Uncle Ward came to the house and met Matthew as well. Family is important and it was nice to see everyone come together to support us and Matthew.

It was hard to see my brother and sister in law leave, as it always is. But I know we will see them soon. This was a special visit and I know Matthew will love going out to LA next year and hanging out and maybe leanring how to surf...at least getting in the ocean.

Thanks Tim and Sam for taking the time to come and meet our little guy. He seemed to really love you guys and enjoy playing with you. You were so kind and gentle with him and you guys seemed to light up when you were with him. It was neat having you here and spend time with you. Matthew hears about you guys all the time and I look forward to the next time you are here.
