Doctor Visit Update

34 weeks today! We had another doctor's visit this morning, except for them being about 30 minutes behind, it was a great visit.  (Looking at the positive side, maybe all that impatient toe-tapping did my circulation in my legs some good).

We are back to seeing our regular doctor, Dr. Patterson, what a great doctor!! We have been very pleased and overjoyed that we have her leading our care. She is extremely attentive, kind, smart, and has a way of making you feel at ease. Some highlights from our doctor's report:

- We are in the safe zone now. She stated that if my water were to break from this point on, they would not stop labor and Matthew would do fine. That was a relieve to know he's developed enough.

- Matthew is growing right on target and heart rate is pumping good at 140 bpm. (David thought the heartrate might be higher, since I decided to treat myself to a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks this morning on the way to the appointment!)

- Whenever the H1N1 flu shot is available, I should get it. Scott and White will not be offering it for probably another couple of weeks, but being pregnant and a healthcare worker, it would be something I should get. I also can pass on those immunities to Matthew since he will not get any flu shot until he's 6 month old.

- We discussed our labor plans and wanting to try and do things without any medications. She says she advises for all people to go into labor with a "wait and see" approach. I feel like that is what David and I are planning for because really we don't know what's going to happen but we have worked to prepare ourselves for all situations. So we'll continue to focus our game plan but realizing we don't know what will happen and we'll have good professionals telling us what options we have. (We've already had plenty of non-professionals presenting options..ha!)

- We will have another appointment in 2 weeks and then we will begin our weekly visits. At our next week she will start pelvic exams to see if we had made any progress and to ensure that Matthew is head down, which she stated he was today.

In summary, things are going great and I'm feeling good though the tiredness is coming back. I've had to resort to taking 20 minute naps after work but I"m not nearly as tired as when I was walking around in a coma during the first trimester. (I can already hear it now...."rest as much as you can, you won't get a chance to rest for a long time.")

It did get a little reality check realizing that it is right around the corner. You can't ever prepare fully for anything like this, so we're just daily putting Matthew, ourselves, and the whole experience in God's hands and attempting to leave it there with Him. It is exciting and my heart beats a little bit faster when I think of having him here, he's already stolen his mom's heart.

I heard a song that explained alot of what I dream for him that I will share in another blog, this one is already long enough. Lots to share and lots of good reports...Yipee!!

Keep growing strong son and we'll see you when you get here.

Ps. Here are our next appointments that are scheduled:
Wednesday, 9/30- 2:00pm
Thursday, 10/8- 3:00pm
Monday, 10/12- 2:45pm
